At the "Midsummer Night's Dream", the RockNet audio network combined nine distributed PA platforms.
Munich, Germany, September 20, 2007 --- It was a superlative fireworks display that lit up the night sky above the Munich Olympic site and put the 70,000 visitors in a splendid mood. The light spectacle accompanied by music in the city on the Isar lasted for over 35 minutes.
The event organizers had thought up something very special for the third "Midsummer Night's Dream" series: The acoustic and visual display was planned to take place directly from the Olympic lake. The public-address systems were installed in the middle of the lake on nine platforms. A giant crane maneuvered the L-ACOUSTICS PA systems on to the floating pontoons. Well-known artists passed the microphone to each other on the three stages on the bank: Rainhard Fendrich, US 5, Debbie Rockt! and Gerry & Gary provided entertainment for the spectators.
This year for the first time, the company IES (Innovative Electronic Systems) was commissioned to supply audio for the fireworks extravaganza. The sound crew had to control a signal route of over 1,500 meters. RockNet was the correct application choice and solid business decision that solved this wide area distributed audio show. An analogue RockNet RN.302.LO was installed on every PA platform feeding outputs to each sound system. All stations were wired in the redundant ring topology. Not even a defective cable between two PA platforms could disturb the flawless audio transmission. Distortion-free operation was created through the bi-directional signal structure.
The IES sound professionals were convinced by the high reliability and simple operation of the powerful RockNet products. The flexibility, excellent signal quality and the fact that CAT5 cable can also be used impressed the clients. RockNet has meanwhile won itself a firm place in the IES rental inventory.
