MEDIA NUMERICS showcases RockNet during live event

November 22, 2006, Hanau, Germany: Media Numerics Ltd., manufacturer of the RockNet real-time, low-latency audio/data distribution network presented the products
in a live event showcasing an on-stage application with an eight piece band.
In attendance were a selected users group along with several business partners like
the German RockNet distributor CONNEX GmbH, tour sound companies and system contractors as well as economic community officials at the Congress Park Hanau.

“Our intention is to draw awareness to our company & brand name by bringing the products in a real-time use demonstration event. It is important to illustrate to the local community of professionals the technology is proven and the products are functioning to all our expectations. Thanks to the support of our industry investors and to the enthusiasm of our international distribution network, we are rapidly approaching the point where we will be releasing the RockNet products into the market,” Arnd Janus CEO, concludes.

The event included a live performance showcasing a single CAT5 RockNet network cable for all audio transport. This featured 3 RockNet RN.301.MI or 24 microphone/line inputs for all stage microphones and instruments shared to 2 Yamaha M7 consoles installed with 2 RockNet RN.342.M7 plug-in interfaces. The consoles fed the network which included the RN.331.DD which fed digital inputs of amplifiers to the sound system house reinforcement systems. “The systems worked straight out of the box” commented Matthias Knoth, CTO & developer of the technology. Key to the system features was setting the analog gain of the stage inputs allowing both house and monitor engineers to mix from the Yamaha consoles using the digital gain only.
This allowed either engineer independent shared gain control without interfering
with each others mix.

Wolfgang “Schabbach” Neumann, Chairman of Sirius Showequipment AG (www.sirius-ag.net)  stated: “Due to the exceptionally good signal-to noise ratio of the RockNet preamp, this was an easy task – very much like in the analog days.” Well-known engineer Achim Schnall (BAP, Xavier Naidoo, Gianna Nanini), who was responsible for the show’s FOH mix, added: “The sonic quality of the system is tremendous, it makes the M7CL sound like a PM5D-RH. Very easy to use, no headaches.”

The system provides a cost-effective, universal solution to a full spectrum of audio distribution applications. Designed to perform like a traditional analog active split system, RockNet can link up to 99 devices into a single network comprising 160 audio channels. These 160 channels can be ‘dropped’ to a maximum of 768 outputs in the bidirectional network without limitation. Channel inputs can be microphone, analog or digital audio. Presently, a plug-in interface to the Yamaha M7CL rounds out the line of A/D and D/A products.  RockNet supports CAT5 infrastructures as a standard.
In addition to the pure audio transport RockNet offers a 10/100BT interface at each device. A highlight of RockNet is a streamline redundancy concept on device and network level. The network is self-healing for single connection failures and offers significant advantages in performance, consistency, and flexibility.

Arnd Janus CEO stated:” Because dialogues with users and potential clients played such an important role in our initial RockNet design, we were happy to present this important milestone. In addition to interest in our initial products, the industry will be intrigued by prototypes of technology we are currently developing. Our goal is to establish Media Numerics’ long-term commitment to pioneering innovative, useful and cost-effective digital technology solutions.”
